Happy Halloween

O.k. they didn't turn out like last year but they are still kinda cute! I made Red Velvet Cupcakes, but I didn't have enough red food coloring for them to be true red velvet but I needed to also save some red for the veins.. but they turned out a brownish, red kind of like blood so that was o.k. but the frosting didn't work like it should have, the only butter I had was spreadable and I'm sure that's why it didn't fluff. It's best to use fluffy frosting. Then I used upside down chocolate chips for the pupils. I worked with what I had so maybe they are better than last year, eh?!?

Another Sleepy Video

So I know I already have a video of Adam falling asleep... but apparently he doesn't need to be in his rocking chair for it to happen!


I was making cupcakes for today and then while they were in the oven I started to make Adam lunch since it was noon. I decided half way through I would check on the boys... Gabe had been sleeping in the swing. Adam was watching Sesame Street and he usually just sits and watches... but he does get bored every once in a while.. so I looked and here he was... I grabbed the camera to share. Then I put the camera down and looked back and this is what he had done.

Trunk or Treat

The ward held it at the local elementary school parking lot. Adam had so much fun!! He just wanted to run around so poor Kyle chased after him all night while I had Gabe. Every once in a while all of a sudden there's Adam with no Kyle. So I say "Where's Daddy?" as he runs by.. then a minute later here comes Kyle running after him... People from the ward kept stopping him and asking him questions. The ward served hot dogs and pasta salad and banana cream pie/cake which was pretty good... not that Adam would eat any of it... so he ended up having animal crackers for dinner.. (should've thought to bring a PB&J) but he fell asleep earlier than normal and didn't eat lunch until he woke up at 3:15. So I wasn't feeling tooo bad. Then they had the kids go through and get the candy from the trunks. Some people went all out on the decorating.. I should've gotten pictures!!

And here is Adam's First Halloween stash! Not to bad for a 2 year old! (last year we only went to a couple houses by our friends house and we didn't give him any candy, not that he is going to get much this time either.. but there are a few things we will let him have and we gave out gummy stuff so he can have a few of those..)

So Gabe won Best Halloween Costume!! (I'm not sure if they had age groups or what... the person just walked by during the "trick or treat" part and handed out buttons.. and it was sprinkling all night so my hair.. well lets just say.. it's bad enough with just the humidity here, then you add rain... not so pretty!

Gabe's costume is a little snug and he didn't last to long in it.. I thought this bib was cute!! ( I also received some Halloween onsies that are cute but they are 3-6 months and are just slightly too small... oh well!!


I thought Koa's costume was pretty cool!! I hope he got a button!!

Adam ran himself around so much he actually was asleep by 9:15 tonight!! Yea!! Except I stayed up to post this... but I'm hoping to be in bed by 10 which hasn't happened for a while!!

Bed Time!

I thought the boys looked cute in their blue pajamas!! And there are the sunglasses again!!

Funny

So after the beach yesterday Adam wanted to wear his sunglasses in the house... he took them off when he ate lunch... Later that night around 7:30 or so he saw them and wanted to wear them again so I let him... He wore them until it was time to go to bed at 9. He use to go to bed earlier.. but now that he has a big boy bed... It's lucky if he is asleep by 9:30... average is about 10, 10:15.. he has also not gone to sleep until 11:15 one night... which is soo crazy!! I am used to going to bed between 8 and 9 because that was when Kyle would go to bed to be able to get up at 2 or 3 to go to work.. so some days I definitely miss Adam being in a crib... oh well... back to the sunglasses.. so he wore them for a while last night then first thing this morning he wanted the sunglasses and wore them until breakfast... I don't know if that's a bad thing and I shouldn't let him wear them cuz it will affect his sight.. but he likes the fact he can bounce on the couch and they stay on... and my house is so dark now with the different lamp and new ceiling fans that don't give much light and then to put sunglasses on... hmmm... anyways.. I thought it was kinda funny of him...


So a couple funny things he is doing right now:
So he loves puzzles and the other day he brought me the fruit puzzle and he would say "hmmm..." while putting his finger on his throat... he does it before he picks up each fruit and then says ""Yea!!" when he picks a fruit... it is really funny... I think that one time with the fruit puzzle he had his hand covering a fruit when he asked me what it was and I put my finger to my face and said "ummm.. Oh a pear." or whatever it was and it caught on.. He also has started to say "oh a ___." when I ask him what things are. Example.. his letters "What is it?" "oh a B." or "a D." Which he didn't do before.
The other night I was rocking him to sleep, which sometimes helps him go to sleep sooner...and all of a sudden he said "Dad." (which he still calls me, every once in a while he will say mom or mama) and I said "Yes?" and he looked up to me and said "shhhhhhhhhhhh" with his finger to his mouth. (Even though I wasn't saying anything... maybe i was breathing loud... I don't know) So I said "o.k."
He has started to say Pau (said pow) when he is done eating which is finished in hawaiian. Cute.

And more but I need to go take care of a couple kids...

beach boys

We went to the army beach that's about a 5 minute drive from our house... It usually has really small waves there.. good for kids.. Adam had so much fun he didn't want to leave.. wait.. he never wants to leave when we go to the beach! So here is a bunch of pictures of us having fun in the sun.(I think I got a couple really good shots for having to hold Gabe while taking some of them)








So here is Adam and kyle walking on the beach so you can hear the waves but you can also hear the life guard talking in the background... he kept talking.. i think i might have some of his or whoever he was taking to, personal information on some of my videos... oops!!



And here is a little video of two of the little crabs I saw. If you look really close you can see a second crab dart out of the hole the first one is going to.

UPDATE: Gabe rolled over on Halloween. I missed it.. but I was going through some of Adams old clothes and looked up and he was on his belly!

Random Stuff Tag

1. I love food... however, I am not so good at cooking.... If I have a recipe I can usually do alright... but even then sometimes I fail.... luckily for me a married someone who is very good at cooking!! Yea!!! I go through little phases of trying new recipes that I find... some to great new things and others ummmm not so much.... I once actually tried to do a melon soup... and it was a disaster. I thought it sounded good for some odd reason and it was one of the finalist in a soup contest... but it was not good.

2. I actually enjoy watching kids shows with my 2 year old... I do get kind of sick of them every once in a while... especially when we have seen the same episode over and over.. but then I find myself watching it anyways... hmmm...

3. I do love all sorts of food... but I do like a bowl of cereal! It's easy, it's instantly ready... and I love milk... and with my 2 year old pretty much only eating PB&J's I do tend to have cereal quite a bit! I also have the PB&J a lot as well.

4. Now that I am a mother... I find myself swaying when I stand... Even when I'm not holding a child.

5. I am addicted to Blogs... I love just seeing what other people post. And I love how each blog is so different. I find myself on blogs that I have no idea who they are and I have been reading it for 20 minutes.. I just find people so interesting!! I also like to get ideas for my own blog.

6. I love music... My sisters have a game where they try to name the group or singer first... I am HORRIBLE at that game.... You could play a song and tell me who it is and then play the exact same song 5 minutes later and I will have no clue who it is.... Even some of my favorite songs I have no idea who sings them...

7. I say stupid things all the time... I'll think something and in my head it is a good point or sounds just fine then I actually say it and I realize how it sounds or I say it and have no clue why it's so funny until someone explains it to me...Example of the realization as I say it... My son Adam was playing with some bouncy balls and foamy baseball, etc... they aren't the cleanest things out there and he kept licking them... so I said "Stop licking your balls!!" and we had company over.... I don't think I will ever live that one down.... I have a few others that I won't ever live down either...

My Big Boys

I can't believe how big these guys are getting!! Gabes already in 6 month clothes at 3 and 1/2 months... And with Adam being my Carb eater.. he definitely has some meat on his bones!

The Babies

Joseph and Crystal came to the Island for the weekend. She brought me some warm clothes for the boys for our trip to Utah. Thank you Crystal!! And I gave them some of the cookies we made. So we had to get pictures of the babies!! They were born like 16 hours apart... almost on the same day!! I guess we can't handle not having a friend of ours have a baby within 24 hours of us. (Adam and Tyler Burton were born the same day) I guess we should have gotten a picture of all of us... oops...

Cookie Time!!!!

So yesterday Adam and I made cookies!! I have been craving them and now that Gabe is a little more tolerant of the things I eat, i.e. chocolate, we made them.

Actually I couldn't get him to help me but we will pretend.

So these are the best cookies ever!! I got the recipe from Kyle's Mom. I'm not sure where she got it from... and I hope that it's o.k. that I share because these are to good not to share!

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2 cups shortening
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
4 eggs
Cream together
2 tsp baking soda(dissolved in 2 tbsp water)
2 tsp vanilla
2 tsp salt
4 cups flour
3 cups old fashioned oats
12 oz chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups nuts (optional, for you nut lovers out there. I prefer no nuts)
Bake for 7-9 minutes or until golden brown (I end up baking for around 12 or 13 minutes but I do rather large cookies)
Make sure you don't over bake them like I have done before..
they are much better a little on the gooey side!!
